Bottom-rankedLeonas managed to get a third victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Friday night. This time newly promoted Leonas won against sixth-ranked Monarcas in Ponce 81-74 . Leonas made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Monarcas turnovers. Strangely Monarcas outrebounded Leonas 49-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. American players dominated also this game. The winners were led by guard Talia von Oelhoffen (180-2002, college: USC, agency: Next Page Sports) who scored that evening 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and center Shelby Cheslek (196-1992, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 23 rebounds by center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) did not help to save the game for Monarcas . Guard Gabby Gregory (180, college: Kansas St., agency: Next Page Sports) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Leonas (3-7) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Yauco. Monarcas lost third consecutive game. Monarcas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Hatillo.
